This sculptor and illustrator graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1983-1988). In her sculpting works she mostly pursues figurative themes. She is the only artist in the Czech Republic who works with exceptional and unconventional material – her objects are created from fragile polystyrene which the author elaborates into fine details, leaves it in its natural form or dyes and complements it with, for example, feathers. Erika Bornová occupies a significant position on the Czech sculpting scene for which we could use the phrase “magical realism”. She has participated in foreign symposia, many sculpting shows and projects. In her illustration works she enjoyed success primarily as the court illustrator of numerous books by Halina Pawlowská.
